Dear IFMA Sacramento Valley Chapter Members,

I first want to thank you for entrusting me as your President and for allowing me to guide this amazing Sacramento Chapter for the next two years. We have a talented and dedicated team of board and committee members and l look forward to great things in the coming years.

I want to thank our outgoing President, Kimberly Ayers, for her amazing leadership over the past two years. Through her guidance we have made excellent strides in improving our Board and the Chapter overall. She has laid the ground work for us to continue to provide excellent monthly programs, increase membership, improve our focus on education, and create succession planning for our Board and Committees. We all are very grateful that Kimberly will remain active in the Chapter as Immediate Past President and will mentor all of us in our new roles on the Executive Board.

We have added one new member to the Executive Board this year. Melanie Uhrenholt has been appointed Chapter Secretary and is an amazing asset to the team. Melanie will also continue in her role of Programs Committee Co-Chair. Diane Viodes will be stepping into the role of Chapter Vice President (formerly Treasurer) and Amber Stewart has transitioned to Treasurer (formerly Secretary). I look forward to working with this stellar team of bright women.

We encourage you to attend our monthly programs, building tours, educational events, and special events like Happy Appy, our famous Golf Tournament or Beer Tour. Please attend and invite your colleagues, invite your customers, invite your friends to become involved in IFMA. Bring them along to programs and help us show them how IFMA can provide value and career opportunities found nowhere else.

World Workplace will be held in Charlotte, NC this year from October 3rd – 5th in Charlotte, North Carolina. If you have not attended this event in the past we highly encourage you to do so! Thousands of FM professionals converge to experience the educational courses, keynote sessions and expo floor at this event each year. WWP prepares you for success as you learn to protect your facility, future-proof your technology, reduce your costs, improve your operations, and build your career. The knowledge gained from this event is invaluable!

We hope that you will take advantage of the grants and scholarships we offer for FMP, CFM and SFP credentials. These certifications will help you advance your career, stand out from the competition, achieve valued recognition, and help you gain valuable professional knowledge. I have been a Professional Member of IFMA since 2008 and became a Certified Facility Manager (CFM) that same year. I feel strongly that my career would not be where it is today had I not pursued this certification and become involved with IFMA.

And be sure to BUY IFMA! New Chapter directories will be distributed at our August Program for 2018-2019, and our members are committed to looking to other members first for needed industry goods and services.

We are a chapter full of strengths, experience, and enthusiasm. We are full of dedicated volunteers who freely give their time to put together all of the amazing programs and keep IFMA Sacramento running. Let’s strengthen IFMA Sacramento this year, and keep our chapter a relevant and valuable resource for us all. If you aren’t already, I encourage you to get involved—attend an event, become a member, join a committee, stay active and enjoy the rewards a solid chapter like ours can provide you personally and professionally.  Let’s commit to strengthening our chapter in the coming months and enjoying all the benefits IFMA Sacramento Valley has to offer.

All the best,
